Energy Saver Advanced Whole House Fan with Included Wireless Control

Best money ever spent.

On the recommendation of an HVAC friend of ours, we recently purchased two whole house fans, and an attic fan, from Quietcool. Our house is a large, 2 story, 1951 built farmhouse, with 1600 sq ft upstairs and 1600 sq ft downstairs. The attic is nearly 1000 sq ft with a 12/12 pitch roofline.

Operationally, we have the attic fan set on auto, and we use both the whole house fans either all night, if the outside temps allow, or the upstairs on low at night, then high in the early morning, and the downstairs fan will be on if the temps allow, or on high at first light. At mid morning we turn off the up and downstairs fans, and close the windows, in order to maintain the cooler temps all day. By doing that we only have to run the A/C starting around 6pm, IF we have to use it at all.

Our daytime high temperatures have been ranging from 95 to 102, and the nights have been 56 to 65.. By using these fans we have kept the air fresh, the temps down, and have minimized the use of the central air. While the temperature control/performance has been wonderful downstairs, the difference upstairs, and in the attic, has been stunning. Whereas the temperature in the attic used to get flat out hot, it is now perfectly tolerable, to actually comfortable, all day.

We believe an added benefit to this system is as of yet untapped, and that will be this winter, when we get the occasional warm days, we will be able to use the fans to easily air out the house.

The purchase of the system was easy, the salesman was honest, with installation included the price was fair, and the installation process was quick and easy. I would, and already have, recommend the Quietcool fans, and we have absolutely no regrets of our purchase.

The unit was very easy to install

The unit was very easy to install. It moves air very well throughout the house. Now if the outside temps would just drop out of the 90's, we could use it more often.

Love it

The whole house fan is working great and I really appreciate it since I don't have AC. It reminds me of the one I had in the house I grew up in, except much, much quieter. The installers were great, had and it done in half the time I thought it would take. The only beef I have is I wish the saying there is an app for that was true. The remotes are clunky, and provide limited control. I am having to start it, the after awhile stop it and then restart to the the off time that I want. Also, the ability to schedule an on time, such as in the morning before waking up would help cool the house down prior to the shutting up the house for the heat.

I'm happy I did it.

No problems installing or running the fan. It works great. Installation was doable by a novice, albeit a half-day job at least. It surprisingly looks great from below. Only one gripe--I there is a part where you screw the final grill through the ceiling drywall into the black metal flanges. They are not self-taping screws and there is no pre-drilled hole in those flanges so I had to get taping screws or use a metal bit to puncture the flanges. I don't love the glass plate thing. I wish it were dials or something that showed how much time is left or what speed it is on. All in all I'm glad I did it and sell the idea to all my family and friends.
